Think Ahead Academy

Think Ahead Academy is a private non-formal school specialising in academic subjects in the British System (IGCSE & A-Level), International Baccalaureate (IB) and Middle Years Programme (MYP).

The student of Think Ahead Academy undertakes, for the good running of the academy, to attend all lessons regularly and punctually.

Think Ahead Academy reserves the right to refuse admission to students who, for behavioural reasons, are deemed unsuitable to attend lessons at the academy.

Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025)

IGCSE, A-LEVELS, MYP & IB

Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025) mean the group lessons programmed by the academy in the afternoon/evening during the school year. The term does not apply to Extra Lessons and Intensive Courses.

The period in which the Tutoring Lessons are taught (School year 2024-2025) lasts 10 months for IGCSE, A-LeveL, MYP and IB students with the exception of IGCSE and A-Level students taking Cambridge International Examination (CIE) subjects and IB Grade 12 – 2nd DP students; for both these exceptions the period in which the Tutoring Lessons are taught (School Year2024-2025) lasts 9 months.

Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025) start on the 9th September 2024 and end on the 9th June 2025 for students whose Tutoring lasts for 10 months, which totals 37 lessons.

Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025) start on the 9th September 2024 and end on the 12th May 2025 for students whose Tutoring lasts for 9 months (Grade 12 – 2nd DP and CIE), which totals 33 lessons.

Lessons normally last 2 hours, from Monday to Friday, from 17:15 to 19:15 and from 19:15 to 21:15. (also from 16:45 to 18:45 and from 18:45 to 20:45)

Lessons can be on-site or online, as agreed.

Lessons on Saturday and Sunday shall be opened on demand, as long as there is a minimum of two students per group.

A maximum of 5 students per group is allowed, although the maximum number of students per group is 4 in Year 9 of the British System and Grade 8 of MYP.

In the school calendar for the Tutoring Lessons (School Year  2024-2025), Think Ahead Academy will specify the days considered as Bank Holidays, on which no lessons shall be held, and those considered as Make-up Bank Holidays, on which the form and manner in which the corresponding classes will be made up will be established.

All the Tutoring Lessons (School Year  2024-2025) shall be held in English, except for those IB subjects taught in Spanish, depending on the students’ schools.

Enrolment and seat reservation

In order to reserve a place, a registration fee must be paid:

• €100 upon enrolment in a subject
• €160 upon enrolment in two or more subjects

Additionally, €60 must be paid as a deposit, which shall be returned in the final adjustment to be made at the end of the 2024-2025 School year.

For enrolments already made:

• In the first term, the tuition fee will be €100 for one subject or €160 for two or more.
• From 1st January 2025, the tuition fee will be €50 for one subject or €100 for two or more.
• From 21st April 2025, the tuition fee will be €20 for one subject or €30 for two or more.

For these registrations, the tuition fee must be paid on the first invoice.

Annual fee and monthly payment

As indicated in the following tables, the annual fixed fee for Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025) is charged in 9 or 10 monthly instalments, depending on:

• The number of subjects:

• 5% discount for two subjects

• 15% discount for more than two subjectsç

• The weeks in the school year, 37 or 33
• The type of lesson, on-site or online
• The course, with specific rates for Year 9 and Grade 8

The monthly instalments of the annual fee, which are explicitly shown in the table above, shall be invoiced at the beginning of each month.

This rate does not include extra services, such as Extra Lesson, Intensive Courses, University Guidance Services or the Bus Service from the school.

Form of payment

The payment of the enrolment fee, the deposit, the lessons and, in general, any service provided by Think Ahead Academy shall be made via bank transfer and the payment fiscal and banking data of the payer in the SEPA direct debit mandate issued by Think Ahead Academy shall be provided by the client. Repeated refunds of receipts shall result in the student not continuing with their lessons.

If it is not possible to pay by direct debit due to exceptional circumstances, the quarterly payment of the classes will be made in advance during the first five working days of the first month of the quarterly fee. Late payment of the quarterly prepayment will prevent the student from continuing with their classes at the academy.

Enrolments during the term

In the case of enrolment after the start of the term, the annual price will be calculated according to the number of lessons remaining in the course and the first instalment will be adjusted according to the actual number of lessons being contracted.

In case of cancellations during the year, a final adjustment of the billing statement shall be made taking into account the lessons already completed out of the expected annual total.

Absence policy

Think Ahead Academy undertakes to make up lessons resulting from justified absences and with prior notice, throughout the period of the Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025) before the end of the period. If it is not possible to organise these make-ups for reasons attributable to Think Ahead Academy, the amount of each absence will be refunded in the final adjustment of the Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025), valued at 80 euros.

For enrolments in the first term, the student has 2 annual absences of any kind for 1 subject taken, 3 for 2 subjects and 5 for 3 subjects or more, which will be turned into credits for making up lessons.

For enrolments in the second term, the student has 1 annual absence of any kind for subjects taken, 2 for 2 subjects and 4 for 3 subjects or more, which will be turned into credits for making up lessons.

For enrolments in the third term the student does not have any absences for the subjects taken, so there will be no option to convert this absence into a credit for making up lessons.

In case of absence, and for organizational reasons, it will be mandatory to notify Clara Aragoncillo (administration) by email or in the on WhatsApp “family group” before 2:00 PM on the day of the class in order to generate an absence credit. If the absence is not communicated before 2:00 PM, a credit will not be generated, and the full fee for the class in question will be charged.

Once the limit of absences has been exceeded, no more make-up credits will be generated.

Extra Lessons

Extra Lessons may be individual or group lessons at the client’s request, provided that the centre can meet them due to the availability of the tutors.

An Extra Lesson may be requested by the client or recommended by the academy at the request from the student’s tutor.

Extra Lessons shall only be booked in those subjects in which the student is participating during the period of Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025).

Since Extra Lessons are meant to be a complementary educational tool to Tutoring Lessons, they shall be charged at €25/hour.

Adjustment of the billing statement

An individual invoice shall be issued when contracting any complementary service to the Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025): Extra Lessons, Intensive Courses, etc. These invoices shall be uploaded to the personal portal of the client.

The invoices for Extra Lessons shall be charged to the client, in the case of not having been exchanged by credit generated by absences, in the final adjustment to be made once the course has finished.

In the event that there are still credits at the end of the Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025), the client may use the monetary value of these credits to cover part of the Reservation of a place for the following school year or for the Summer Courses, if they are interested.

Bus service

Bus service shall only be available from certain schools.

In case of absence from the Bus service, the secretary’s office must be notified before 14:00 on the day of the lesson.

Communicating an absence after 14:00 on the day of the lesson shall not waive payment for that journey.

In case of delay in the Bus service, Think Ahead Academy undertakes to teach the 2 hours of lessons established.

Changes in tutoring staff and make-up lessons

Tutoring staff shall be replaced for justified reasons, for a limited period of time or permanently, by another tutor with the same qualifications.

In case that a Tutoring Lesson (School Year 2024-2025) were cancelled by the academy or falls on a make-up holiday in the Think Ahead Academy calendar, a credit equivalent to that of an absence will be generated. Thus, Think Ahead Academy guarantees that it will be made up before the end of the Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025) If it is not possible to organise these make-ups for reasons attributable to Think Ahead Academy, the amount of each absence shall be refunded in the final adjustment of the Tutoring Lessons (School Year 2024-2025), valued at €80.

Christmas and Easter Intensive Courses and

Intensive Courses and group lessons taught by Think Ahead Academy in the morning or afternoon/evening, on-site or online.

In general, these lessons last between 2 and 4 hours, although there may be exceptions duly described by Think Ahead Academy in the specifications of each lesson.

All the lessons of the Intensive Courses for the British System and the International Baccalaureate subjects in English are taught in English. Only the lessons for International Baccalaureate subjects in Spanish shall be taught in Spanish.

Enrolment

Those interested in attending the Intensive Courses shall be able to register, through the means and procedures provided by Think Ahead Academy, in as many lessons as they wish, being necessary to register in at least one.

The student shall be formally enrolled in each of the lessons when the registration form is received at Think Ahead Academy, and the corresponding invoicing process will begin at the same time.

Once the enrolment in a lesson has been formalised, Think Ahead Academy undertakes to deliver the lesson on the scheduled date and time, for which it shall provide the necessary human and material resources.

If, due to force majeure, Think Ahead Academy is unable to deliver the lesson, the current invoicing process shall be stopped and the student will be refunded the full amount paid.

If the registered student is unable to attend the lesson, due to personal reasons, the amount of the lesson will be invoiced in full; likewise, if payment has been made, the amount of this payment will not be refunded, although Think Ahead Academy will assess each case on an individual basis.

Rates and form of payment

Each Intensive lesson shall be priced at €40/hour.

Payment must be made by bank transfer to the account provided by Think Ahead Academy, and Think Ahead Academy may also debit the client for the amount of the lessons by means of a SEPA receipt, as long as the client has provided the corresponding authorisation.

Exams centre

Think Ahead Academy is an Official Exams Centre for Edexcel and Cambridge Examination Boards, allowing external candidates to sit official GCSE, IGCSE, As-Level and A-Level exams at our premises.

Think Ahead Academy reserves the right to enrol for these exams, taking into account the established quota and the internal limits that the centre may have at any given time.

Think Ahead Academy undertakes to look after the interests of candidates, ensuring examination conditions set by the examining board and fully managing the sending of exam papers to the United Kingdom for marking and the subsequent issuing of official transcripts once received from the relevant British authority.

Enrolment

Those interested in taking an official Edexcel or Cambridge exam may register, through the means and procedures provided by Think Ahead Academy, for as many exams as they wish, being necessary to register for at least one.

The student shall be formally enrolled in each of the official exams when the registration form is received at Think Ahead Academy, and the corresponding invoicing process will begin at the same time.

Once the enrolment has been formalised, Think Ahead Academy undertakes to deliver the exam on the scheduled date and time, for which it will provide the necessary human and material resources.

If, due to force majeure, Think Ahead Academy is unable to carry out the scheduled call, the current invoicing process will be stopped and, if necessary, the registered student will be reimbursed the full amount paid.

If the registered student is unable to attend the exam, due to personal reasons, the amount of the exam will be invoiced in full; likewise, if payment has been made, the amount of this payment will not be refunded, although Think Ahead Academy will assess each case on an individual basis.

Rates and form of payment

The price of this service will be €250 per “paper”, bearing in mind that the number of “papers” varies for each Qualification and Subject.

Payment must be made by bank transfer to the account provided by Think Ahead Academy, and Think Ahead Academy may also debit the client for the amount of the lessons by means of a SEPA receipt, as long as the client has provided the corresponding authorisation.

Oxbridge tests

Oxbridge Preparation courses are group lessons taught by Think Ahead Academy in the morning of afternoon/evening.

In general, these Oxbridge Preparation courses last 26 hours, although there may be exceptions duly described by Think Ahead Academy in the specifications of each lesson.

All the lessons for the Oxbridge tests Preparation shall be taught in English.

Enrolment

The student shall be formally enrolled in the Oxbridge Preparation course when the registration form is received at Think Ahead Academy, and the corresponding invoicing process will begin at the same time.

Once the enrolment in a lesson has been formalised, Think Ahead Academy undertakes to deliver the lesson on the scheduled date and time, for which it shall provide the necessary human and material resources.

If, due to force majeure, Think Ahead Academy is unable to deliver the lesson, the current invoicing process shall be stopped and the student will be refunded the full amount paid.

If the registered student is unable to attend the lesson, due to personal reasons, the amount of the lesson will be invoiced in full; likewise, if payment has been made, the amount of this payment will not be refunded, although Think Ahead Academy will assess each case on an individual basis.

Rates and form of payment

Each Oxbridge preparation course has a fixed duration of 26 hours and a cost of €1,500.

Payment must be made by bank transfer to the account provided by Think Ahead Academy, and Think Ahead Academy may also debit the client for the amount of the lessons by means of a SEPA receipt, as long as the client has provided the corresponding authorisation.

Home tutoring

Description, rates and form of payment

Home tutoring includes only one student and is usually taught in the student’s own home. They are focused on students in Year 5, 6, 7 or 8 of the British System or Grade 4, 5, 6 or 7 of the MYP, and the duration of the lessons is one and a half hours.

The following table shows the price and applicable discounts.

At the end of each month, in arrears, the client will be invoiced the amount corresponding to the lessons taught by means of a SEPA debit on the direct debit order previously completed by the customer.

Absence policy

Absences must be notified directly to the tutor 2 hours in advance, and lessons cancelled by the client and not communicated to the tutor with the aforementioned notice will be charged.

Data policy

Your personal data have been collected pursuant to the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons regarding the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data. We inform you that this data are stored in a file owned by THINK AHEAD ACADEMY, S.L. In order to comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals regarding the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data, and following the Recommendations and Instructions issued by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (A.E.P.D.), THINK AHEAD ACADEMY, S.L. hereby informs you that: There is the possibility of making communications through instant messaging systems such as WhatsApp in order to speed up the management of the contracted services.

In order to comply with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals regarding the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data, and following the Recommendations and Instructions issued by the Spanish Data Protection Agency (A.E.P.D.), S.L.

HEREBY INFORMS YOU THAT:

The personal data requested and provided by you are incorporated into a privately-owned file, which is duly registered with the A.E.P.D., and for which THINK AHEAD ACADEMY, S.L. is responsible and the sole recipient.

Only the data strictly necessary to adequately provide the service will be requested, and it may be necessary to collect contact data from third parties, such as legal representatives, guardians, or persons in charge designated by the same.

All data collected have the confidentiality commitment required by law, with the legally established security measures, and under no circumstances shall be transferred or processed by third parties, natural or legal persons, without the prior consent of the client, guardian or legal representative, except in those cases where it is essential for the proper provision of the service.

Once the relationship between the company and the customer has ended, the data shall be archived and retained for a minimum period of 5 years, after which it shall continue to be archived or otherwise returned in its entirety to the customer or to the legally authorised person.

IT IS HEREBY STATED THAT

I have been informed that the data I provide will be included in the file called Enrichment Program of THINK AHEAD ACADEMY, S.L., for the purpose of managing the assigned processing, issuing invoices, contact, etc., to which I hereby give my consent. I have also been informed of the possibility of exercising my rights of access, rectification, cancellation and opposition, by writing to THINK AHEAD ACADEMY, S.L. with address at C/ Valportillo II, 14 C.P. 28108, Alcobendas (Madrid).

I consent to the data provided by me being used to send communications from the academy via WhatsApp.
